Marks & Spencer Recalls Chocolate Snack Over Peanut Allergy Risk
Marks & Spencer (M&S) has urgently recalled its popular Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Bites after discovering a potentially life-threatening peanut contamination.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued an official food safety alert warning that certain 120g packs of the snack may contain peanuts not declared on the label, posing a serious health risk to anyone with a peanut allergy.
Which M&S Product Is Being Recalled?
The recall affects M&S Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Bites (120g) with the following details:
- Best Before Date: 12 May 2026
- Lot Number: 5242
Customers who purchased this product are urged not to eat it and instead return it to any Marks & Spencer store for a full refund, with no receipt required.
FSA Issues Allergy Warning
The Food Standards Agency said the contamination could be dangerous or even fatal for people with peanut allergies. It advised consumers to check packaging carefully and avoid consumption if allergic.
“This product may contain peanuts, which are not mentioned on the label. This makes it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts,” the FSA said.
Marks & Spencer Responds
An M&S spokesperson said customer safety remains the company’s highest priority:
“Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer, and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are recalling a small number of Milk Chocolate Honeycomb packs due to the possible presence of undeclared peanuts.”
The retailer also clarified that packaging already states the product is unsuitable for peanut allergy sufferers, but the recall is being done as a precautionary measure.
What Should Customers Do?
If you have bought the affected M&S Milk Chocolate Honeycomb Bites, you should:
- Not eat the product if you have a peanut allergy or intolerance.
- Return it to any M&S store for a full refund.
