The locations of 68 Pizza Hut restaurants set to close across the UK have been confirmed after the company running the brand’s dine-in operations entered administration.
The closures stretch from Finchley Lido in London to Carlisle in Cumbria and Rhyl in north Wales, marking one of the largest UK restaurant restructurings this year.
Alongside the dine-in branches, 11 delivery-only Pizza Hut outlets will also shut, putting a total of 1,210 workers at risk of redundancy.
Pizza Hut UK Enters Administration
DC London Pie, which operated Pizza Hut’s UK restaurants under a franchise agreement, appointed administrators from corporate finance firm FTI Consulting on Monday.
However, in a pre-pack administration deal, US parent company Yum! Brands — which also owns KFC and Taco Bell — has bought back the UK restaurant business, saving 64 Pizza Hut sites and securing 1,276 jobs.
Those restaurants will now be owned directly by Yum! Brands, marking a significant shift in the structure of Pizza Hut’s UK operations.
Matt Callaghan, joint administrator at FTI, said:
“This transaction provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands, securing the continuation of 64 Pizza Hut sites and preserving 1,276 jobs.
The joint administrators will continue to work with employees who have unfortunately been made redundant to ensure they receive the support needed.”
